CNY Books For The World
Another annual and ongoing project with the Auburn Rotary Club involves the Rotarian CNY Books for the World where books from nearby school districts and libraries are recycled, repurposed and redirected to South Africa where these books are distributed to several African countries. Instead of destroying good books, these books are saved and put to good use. Typically the Auburn Rotary Club has been one of the top producing clubs for this project in the past 12 years.
Rotarian CNY Books for the World, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit and all volunteer organization, working with many Central NY Rotary Clubs and The Second Wind Foundation. This program provides K-6th grade picture/story and K-12th grade textbooks to these needed regions of the world to create opportunities for a better way of life. Pallets of area books are collected and transported to The Second Wind Foundation in LaPorte, TX and then sent overseas.
